As the German-Turkish Academy (DETU), in 2016, we organized a workshop in cooperation with Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) and the Institute of Educational Science. The workshop focused on the role of teachers with a migration background in the German education system.
This event comprehensively discussed the opportunities and challenges that teachers with a migration background offer as bridge-builders, role models, and cultural mediators. Through lectures, workshops, and a panel discussion, participants had the opportunity to engage in an important dialogue between academia, educational policy, and practice.
DETU is delighted about the cooperation with Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Institute of Educational Science. We would like to express our special thanks to our founding member, Prof. Dr. Carla Schelle, for her great commitment in preparing and conducting this event.
As an organization that believes in the importance of intercultural solidarity and a shared working culture, we would like to emphasize that we will continue to hold such events and contribute to society through similar projects.
